3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 5611 and the following apply.
3.1
major welding repair
it is considered a major welding repair when the depth of the prepared groove for weld repair exceeds 25 mm or 40% of the wall thickness (whichever is smaller), or when the area of a single repair excavation exceeds 65 cm² (on the cast surface)
4 Manufacturing
4.1 Casting and heat treatment
4.1.1 Unless otherwise specified by the purchaser, the melting method and casting process shall be determined by the supplier.
4.1.2 Castings shall be subjected to heat treatment. The heat treatment process shall be determined by the supplier. The heat treatment processes for castings are given in Annex A.
4.2 Welding repair
4.2.1 Except where special provisions prohibit welding repair, defects in castings may be repaired by welding. Before welding repair, the welding procedure qualification shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 40800, and the defective areas of the casting shall be cleaned. After welding repair, the use and appearance quality of the casting shall not be affected. Unless otherwise specified, the welding repair process shall be determined by the supplier.
4.2.2 The welding repair of castings shall comply with GB/T 45681.
4.2.3 The location and extent of major welding repairs shall be recorded by sketches or photos.
4.2.4 After major welding repair, the corresponding heat treatment shall be carried out according to the repair welding procedure.
