This Standard specifies the Nitroso-R-Salt Spectrophotometric Method for the Determination of Cobalt Content.
This Standard is applicable to the determination of cobalt content in pig iron, carbon steel, alloy steel and precision alloy. Determination range: 0.10%~3.00%.
2 Principle
In the presence of ammonium citrate and sodium nitrite, where the solution pH is 5.5~7.5, the bivalent cobalt is rapidly oxidated to tervalent one, and it and nitroso R salt generate colored complex, and measure the absorbance after acidification eliminates interference.
