This standard is applicable to the research and application of life cycle assessment for mechanical products to assess the potential environmental impact of mechanical products in their full life cycle or at a specified stage.

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

life cycle
whole process of mechanical products from raw material acquisition to product design, production, packaging, transportation, use and recycle till final disposal
3.2
life cycle assessment (LCA)
summary and assessment for input, output and potential environmental impact of mechanical product system in the life cycle
3.3
life cycle inventory analysis (LCI)
stage of life cycle assessment summarizing and quantifying the input and output in the full life cycle of mechanical products
