This standard specifies a test method for testing the resistance of fabrics to water penetration under low impact. This method may be used to predict the resistance of apparel fabrics to rain penetration.
This standard is applicable to any textile fabric, which may or may not have been given a water-resistant or water-repellent finish. This method is more suited for fabrics of medium to loose construction where the Bundesmann rain-shower test (GB/T 14577) or rain test (GB/T 23321) is too severe.
This standard is not applicable to fabrics that do not lie flat under tension.
