This document specifies the user requirements for the attachment of non-swing or swing rough terrain telescopic forklifts (hereinafter referred to as "forklifts") and integrated work platforms (hereinafter referred to as "integrated PWPs").
This document is intended to achieve the following objectives:
a) To prevent personal injury, property damage and accidents;
b) to establish guidelines for inspection and maintenance, operation and training.
Note 1: More stringent national or local requirements can be applied.
This document does not address the requirements for the user in relation to the forklift truck itself, nor the requirements for the user of the installed integrated work platform. Note 2: ISO 11525-1 specifies the general requirements for users of telescopic forklifts.
Note 3: ISO 11525-2 specifies the general requirements for users of slewing telescopic forklifts.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions defined in ISO 10896-1, ISO 10896-2, ISO 10896-5, ISO 11525-1 and ISO 11525-2 apply to this document.
4 General safety requirements
4.1 General principles and requirements
Effective management experience, safety control methods and the use of proper rules for safety, training, inspection, maintenance, application selection and operation shall be added to the content of this document.
The content of this document should be supplemented by effective management experience, safety control methods and the use of correct rules for safety, training, inspection, maintenance, application selection and operation. All available data on the intended use and intended environmental characteristics should be taken into account. Persons in direct control of the use and operation of the forklift truck and the integrated PWP coupling shall be responsible for ensuring good safety practices.
Note:Different working conditions may require additional safety precautions, training and special safety operating procedures.
The operation of the coupling device can only be protected against certain hazards by careful driving and the use of common sense. Qualified personnel trained in the intended use, safe operation, servicing and maintenance of this forklift truck are essential.
It is also the responsibility of the operator to ensure that the operator is aware of the safe operation of the coupling.
The user shall ensure that the operator's mental or physical condition will not affect his/her ability to operate the coupling.
4.2 Operating instructions
The user shall ensure that the operator and service personnel always have access to the operator's manual and all other safety manuals supplied by the forklift truck manufacturer with the coupling.
4.3 Retrofitting or modifications
The user shall comply with the requirements of ISO 11525-1 or ISO 11525-2, as applicable, regarding modifications or alterations.
4.4 Manufacturer's bulletin
The user shall comply with the applicable bulletins issued by the responsible entity.
4.5 Operator qualifications
The user shall allow only qualified and approved personnel to operate the connection device. In addition to being trained in accordance with ISO 11525-1 or ISO 11525-2 (as applicable), the operator of the forklift truck shall be competent to operate the equipment safely.
4.6 Operator's responsibility to receive training
Before operating the coupling, the operator shall have been trained in accordance with ISO 11525-1 or ISO 11525-2, as applicable, and shall have read and be familiar with the operating manual and any other safety information provided by the manufacturer and user for the type of coupling to be operated, the intended use of the interface and the environment in which it is to be used.
4.7 Operator training
4.7.1 Operator training programme
Persons who are not qualified to operate the connection device are only allowed to operate it during the training process and should be under the direct supervision of the trainer. The training programme should emphasise safety and correct operation to avoid injury to the operator and others and to prevent damage to property. The training programme should include the following items.
a) Information on the attachments to be operated by the trainee:
1) The forklift truck manufacturer shall have approved the linkage between the forklift truck and the integrated PWP;
2) Operating and safety instructions in the forklift operator's manual;
3) Instructions for inspections and maintenance to be carried out by the operator. b) Contents related to the operation and workplace:
1) All components of the coupling, including the quick coupling (if adapted), shall be installed in place and operated correctly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions

2) the integrated PWP is securely attached to the forklift truck prior to use;
3) all fixing points of the integrated PWP coupling shall be securely in place; 4) the locking device shall be locked and the coupling device shall be immobile;
4.7.2 Testing, retraining, implementation and record keeping
Testing retraining, implementation and record keeping shall be in accordance with the applicable provisions of ISO 11525-1 or ISO 11525-2.
4.8 Inspection and maintenance
4.8.1 General requirements
Inspection and maintenance of the connection unit shall be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's and user's recommendations and national regulations, and:
a) Regular inspection, lubrication, maintenance and adjustment (as required) shall be carried out as specified;
b) only qualified and approved personnel shall be permitted to maintain, repair, reassemble, adjust and inspect the connecting device in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
4.8.2 Cables and wiring
In addition to the inspection and maintenance requirements in accordance with ISO 11525-1 or ISO 11525-2, as applicable, the user shall instruct the operator to ensure that all electrical connections in the connecting device section
a) shall be inspected for damage or wear;
b) the controls on the integrated PWP should be correctly connected.
5 Safety rules and precautions for operation
5.1 Safety duties of the operator
The operator is responsible for the safe operation of the connection unit.
Before operating the connection device, the operator shall have read and be familiar with the operating instructions and, for special connection device operations, any additional safety instructions provided by the manufacturer and the user.
The operator shall develop safe operating practices, be aware of hazardous environments and be able to use all means, including those provided by the user, to protect him/herself, other persons, the connection and the working environment.
5.2 Visual inspection and functional tests
The user shall instruct the operator to ensure that all components of the connection unit are in place and operated correctly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. This should be verified by a visual inspection and functional test.
5.3 Approval of the integrated PWP coupling unit
The user shall ensure that the forklift truck and the integrated PWP coupling are approved by the forklift truck manufacturer.
5.4 General operating instructions
In accordance with the user's instructions, the operator shall comply with the following operating instructions.
a) Before connecting the integrated PWP:
1) Read the operating and safety instructions;
b) If equipped with a quick-connect device, ensure that the device is operating correctly.
c) When fixing the integrated PWP:
1) Ensure that the integrated PWP is securely attached to the forklift before use;
2) Ensure that all fixing points of the integrated PWP engagement device are securely seated;
3) Ensure that the locking device is locked and that the engagement device does not move.
d) Before disconnecting the coupling from the forklift truck:
1) Ensure that there is no user in the integrated PWP;
2) Ensure that the integrated PWP is on the ground;
3) Ensure that there is sufficient clearance around the forklift truck and the integrated PWP.
