1 Scope and Measurement Quantities
Except for the following modifications, Chapter 1 of GB/T 4214.1—2017 applies.
1.1 Scope
1.1.1 General
Additions:
This document applies to humidifiers for household and similar purposes with rated voltage not exceeding 250V for single-phase appliances and 480V for other appliances.
This document does not apply to:
Humidifiers designed for industrial use;
Humidifiers intended for use in special environments with corrosive or explosive atmospheres (e.g., dust, vapors, or gas);
Humidifiers for medical purposes.
Other appliances with humidification functions may refer to this document for noise testing.
1.1.2 Noise Types
Revision:
Methods listed in GB/T 6881.2—2017, GB/T 6881.3—2002, and GB/T 3767—2016 may be used for measuring noise emitted by humidifiers.
1.2 Measurement Quantities
Addition:
Requirements for declared noise values are outside the scope of this document.
1.3 Measurement Uncertainty
Revision:
The standard deviation estimates for sound power levels of humidifiers determined according to this document are shown in Table 101.
2 Normative References
Except for the following modifications, Chapter 2 of GB/T 4214.1—2017 applies.
Additions:
GB/T 3767—2016 Acoustics - Determination of sound power levels and sound energy levels of noise sources using sound pressure - Engineering methods for an approximate free field above a reflecting plane
GB/T 6881.2—2017 Acoustics - Determination of sound power levels and sound energy levels of noise sources using sound pressure - Engineering methods for reverberant rooms with small movable sources - Comparison method for hard-walled test rooms
GB/T 23119—2017 Household and similar electrical appliances - Performance test water
3 Terms and Definitions
Except for the following modifications, Chapter 3 of GB/T 4214.1—2017 applies.
Additions:
3.101 Humidifier
An electrically driven appliance that increases relative humidity in air.
[Source: GB/T 23332—2018, 3.1]
3.102 Evaporative Humidifier
A humidifier that disperses evaporated water into air through a fan.
Note: Includes centrifugal humidifiers that atomize water droplets using centrifugal force.

4 Measurement Methods and Acoustic Environment
Except for the following modifications, Chapter 4 of GB/T 4214.1—2017 applies.
4.2 Direct Method
Addition:
If the noise source contains pure tone components, the standard deviation estimate of sound pressure levels measured in a special reverberation room may increase. In such cases, additional microphone positions or source positions may be required as specified in GB/T 6881.3—2002.
4.3 Comparison Method
Addition:
If the noise source contains pure tone components, the standard deviation estimate of sound pressure levels measured in a hard-walled test room or special reverberation room may increase. In such cases, additional microphone positions or source positions may be required as specified in GB/T 6881.2—2017 or GB/T 6881.3—2002.
