GB/T 4219《工业用硬聚氯乙烯（ＰＶＣ-Ｕ）管道系统》预计分为两部分，本部分为GB/T 4219的第１部分。
本部分代替GB/T 4219-1996《化工用硬聚氯乙烯（ＰＶＣ-Ｕ）管材》。
GB/T 4219的本部分规定了以聚氯乙烯（PVC）树脂为主要原料，经挤出成型的工业用聚氯乙烯(PVC-U)压力管材的材料、产品分类、要求、试验方法、检验规则和标志、包装、运输、贮存。
本部分适用于工业用硬聚氯乙烯管道系统，也适用于承压给排水输送以及污水处理、水处理、石油、化工、电力、电子、冶金、电镀、造纸、食品饮料、医药、中央空调、建筑等领域的粉体、液体的输送。 本部分与ＧＢ／Ｔ４２１９—１９９６主要技术差异有：
———将表１ 温度与压力关系作为资料性附录；
———管材规格由２０ｍｍ～７１０ｍｍ 改为１６ｍｍ～４００ｍｍ；
———物理力学性能增加二氯甲烷浸渍试验和落锤冲击试验，取消弯曲度、腐蚀度、丙酮浸泡和拉伸试验、扁平试验；
———增加系统的适用性试验；
———增加了附录Ａ（资料性附录）ＰＶＣ-Ｕ 管材材料预测强度，附录Ｂ（资料性附录）管系列Ｓ、标准尺寸比ＳＤＲ 与公称压力ＰＮ 对照表，附录Ｃ（资料性附录）组件材料温度对压力的折减系数。
