4 Principle
4.1 Determination principle of sodium hydroxide content
Barium chloride is first added to the specimen solution to convert sodium carbonate into barium carbonate precipitate, and then the solution is titrated with hydrochloric acid standard volumetric solution. The end point is indicated either by using phenolphthalein as indicator solution, or by potentiometric titration based on the electrode potential mutation. The reactions are as follows:
