This document is applicable to the design of steel free forgings and steel die forgings formed by hot forging for heavy mechanical. GB/T 321 Priority number and preferred numbers GB/T 1182 Geometrical product specifications (GPS) - Geometrical tolerancing - Tolerances of form, orientation, location and run-out GB/T 4458.4 Mechanical drawings - Dimensioning GB/T 4458.5 Mechanical drawings - Indication for size And of fits GB/T 8541 Terminology of forging and stamping GB/T 16675.2 Technical drawings - Simplified representation - Part 2: Dimensioning GB/T 37400.8-2019 Heavy mechanical general techniques and standards - Part 8: Forging GB/T 37400.9 Heavy mechanical general techniques and standards - Part 9: Cutting NB/T 47008 Carbon and alloy steel forgings for pressure equipment 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 8541 and NB/T 47008 and the following apply. 3.1 forging processing method of forgings with certain geometric dimension, shape, and mass by causing partial or complete plastic deformation of billets and ingots under the action of pressure equipment and tools (molds) [Source: GB/T 8541-2012, 3.1.19] 3.2 open-die forging; free forging forging that only uses simple universal tools or directly applies external force to the steel billets between the upper and lower anvils of forging equipment to deform the steel billets and obtain the required geometric shape and internal mass [Source: GB/T 8541-2012, 3.5.5, modified] 3.3 die forging forging made from steel billets that undergo plastic deformation through mold forging [Source: GB/T 8541-2012, 3.5.7, modified] 4 Classification of forgings 4.1 Structure classification According to the structural shape, forgings are classified into: a) Shaft type (solid) forgings; b) Strip forgings; c) Barrel forgings; d) Disk forgings; e) Circular (ring) forgings; f) Irregular forgings [Other structural shapes except for items a) to e)]. Note: Irregular forgings are generally die forgings.
