1 Scope
This document describes a method for determining the residual methyleyclosiloxane volatiles in leather and fur products.
This document is applicable to the determination of the residual octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4), decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5) and dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane (D6) in various types of leather, fur and products thereof.

4 Principle
The residual methylcyclosiloxane volatiles in leather or fur are extracted with ethyl acetate. After the extract is filtered and purified by filter membrane, it is determined by a gas chromatograph (GC/MSD) equipped with mass selective detector and quantified by internal standard method.
