GB/T 4893.10-2024 Test of surface coatings of furniture - Part 10: Determination of surface resistance to scratching
1 Scope
This document describes a method for determining the resistance to scratching of surface coatings of furniture.
This document is applicable to all cured surfaces of finished furniture and tests carried out on unused furniture or test panel surfaces.
This document does is not applicable to leather and textile surfaces.
2 Normative references
No normative reference is listed in this document.
3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in the following apply.
3.1
test panel
test panel with test surface
Note: The test panel is taken from the furniture, or an independent panel made using the same materials and finishing methods as the furniture
3.2
scratching trace
visible and measurable trace produced by the tip of the scribing needle on the test surface under the specified load
3.3
scratching resistance
minimum load required to create a scratch greater than or equal to 0.30 mm in width on surface coatings of furniture with a scratching needle
Note: The unit is Newton (N).
3.4
preliminary assessments of the scratching resistance
minimum load to produce a specified scratch on one test surface
3.5
intermediate assessment of scratching resistance
average of the preliminary assessment of the scratching resistance of a test surface
3.6
final value of scratching resistance
average of the intermediate assessment of scratching resistance of the three test surfaces
4 Principle
Scratching resistance is the minimum load (in N) required to use a scratching needle (see 7.2) to produce scratches with specified width requirements on surface coatings of furniture. It determines the ability of the surface coatings of furniture to resist scratching by a certain force.
