本标准规定烧结金属材料无切口冲击试样的尺寸。试样可直接压制和烧结制成，也可由烧结制品经机械加工制成。本标准适用于除硬质合金以外的各种烧结金属和合金。但对于某些孔隙度很低或延展性大的烧结材料，采用带U或V型切口试样做冲击试验更合适，此种情况下，试验得出的结果分散性小(参考GB 229-84《金属夏比(U型缺口)冲击试验方法》或GB 2106-80《金属夏比(V型缺口)冲击试验方法》)。
