本部分代替GB/T 7025.1-1997《电梯主参数及轿厢、井道、机房的型式与尺寸 第1部分：ⅠⅡ、Ⅲ类电梯》。
本部分规定了允许安装Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ和Ⅵ类乘客电梯的必要尺寸。
本部分给出的尺寸反映了设备的要求。应当注意相关的国家标准，在某些情况下有可能要求更大的尺寸。
本部分适用于所有安装在新建筑物内具有一个出入口的轿厢的电梯，且与驱动系统无关。然而，如果将对重侧置，则可以设置一个贯通的出入口，这时可能需要增加井道的深度尺寸。在相关场合，它也可以作为在用建筑电梯安装的依据。
本部不适用于速度超过6.0m/s的电梯，对于这类电梯应咨询制造商。
本部分与GB/T 7025.1-1997的主要差异为：
——技术内容和章节按ISO/DIS 4190-1：2007进行制定；
——增加了Ⅵ类电梯的内容；
——删除了ISO前方；
——不适用的额定速度的范围由“大于2.5m/s”改为大于“6.0m/s”;
——删除了第2章“引用标准”；
——按接近优先数系R10和R5确定额定载重量和额定速度；
——适用于残障人员使用的电梯的最小候梯厅深度由1500mm改为1800mm；
——增加了与残障人员使用的有关的设计要求。
