1 Scope
This standard specifies 20 standard colors of different hues and the general rules for the determination of readily carbonizable substances using these standard colors.
This standard is applicable to the determination of readily carbonizable substances in organic chemical reagents.

3 Method principle
Concentrated sulfuric acid can abstract hydrogen and oxygen from certain organic compounds in the proportions forming water, thereby carbonizing these organic compounds, which causes the concentrated sulfuric acid or the mixture of concentrated sulfuric acid and the sample to develop a color. This may be used for the visual colorimetric determination of readily carbonizable substances.
