本标准于１９８８年首次发布。本标准规定了用重量法测定蒸发残渣的通用方法。本标准适用于在沸水浴温度下可以挥发并除净主体的化学试剂蒸发残渣的测定。用本标准测定蒸发残渣时，按取样量和规格值计算所得到的残渣质量不得小于1mg。本标准代替ＧＢ／Ｔ９７４０—１９８８《化学试剂　蒸发残渣测定通用方法》，与ＧＢ／Ｔ９７４０—１９８８相比主要变化如下：
———修改了测定步骤（１９８８年版的第４章，本版的第４章）。
