本标准规定了以20°、60°、85°的几何角度测定漆膜镜面光泽的方法。60°法适用于所有色漆漆膜，但对于光泽很高的色漆或接近无光泽的色漆，20°或85°法则更为适宜。20°法对高光泽色漆可提高鉴别能力，适用于60°光泽高于70单位的色漆。85°法对低光泽色漆可提高鉴别能力，适用于60°光泽低于30单位的色漆。这些方法不适用于测定含金属颜料色漆的光泽。
