本标准于１９６５年首次发布，于１９７６年第一次修订、１９８８年第二次修订。本标准规定了化学试剂中二水合草酸的性状、规格、试验、检验规则和包装及标志。本标准适用于化学试剂中二水合草酸的检验。本标准代替ＧＢ／Ｔ９８５４—１９８８《化学试剂　草酸》，与ＧＢ／Ｔ９８５４—１９８８相比主要变化如下：———标准名称改为“二水合草酸（草酸）”；
———澄清度试验的规格由“合格”调整为“２号”、“３号”、“５号”（１９８８年版的３．２，本版的第４章）；
———水不溶物、灼烧残渣、硫酸盐、总氮量、重金属５项改用化学试剂通用方法测定（１９８８年版的４．２．２、４．２．３、４．２．５、４．２．６、４．２．９；本版的５．５、５．６、５．８、５．９、５．１２）。
