本标准适用于土壤和沉积物中银（Ag）、砷（As）、钡（Ba）、铍（Be）、铋（Bi）、镉（Cd）、铬（Cr）、钴（Co）、铜（Cu）、锂（Li）、锰（Mn）、钼（Mo）、镍（Ni）、锑（Sb）、锶（Sr）、铅（Pb）、铊（Tl）、钒（V）和锌（Zn）共 19 种金属元素的测定。
当取样量为 0.1 g、消解后定容体积为 50 ml 时，19 种金属元素的方法检出限为 0.02 mg/kg～5 mg/kg，测定下限为 0.08 mg/kg～20 mg/kg，详见附录 A。
