本标准适用于环境空气、无组织排放和固定污染源废气颗粒物中银（Ag）、铝（Al）、砷（As）、钡（Ba）、铍（Be）、铋（Bi）、钙（Ca）、镉（Cd）、钴（Co）、铬（Cr）、铜（Cu）、铁（Fe）、钾（K）、镁（Mg）、锰（Mn）、钠（Na）、镍（Ni）、铅（Pb）、锑（Sb）、锡（Sn）、锶（Sr）、钛（Ti）、钒（V）、锌（Zn）等24种金属元素的测定。
当空气采样量为150 m3（标准状态），污染源废气采样量为0.600 m3（标准状态干烟气），样品预处理定容体积为50 ml时，本方法测定各金属元素的检出限和测定下限见附录A。
