Gear flame or induction hardening process and its quality control
1 Scope
This standard specifies the relevant terms, material selection, applicable equipment, processes and quality inspection for gear flame and induction hardening (high frequency, super audio frequency and medium frequency).
This standard is applicable to the process and quality control of flame and induction hardening for gears made of medium carbon structural steels, alloy structural steels, low hardenability steels and other materials.

surface hardness measured in the middle of the working depth of a finished gear tooth
3.2
bottom land hardness
surface hardness at the bottom land of the tooth space in the middle of the face width of a finished gear
