本标准规定了防爆操作柱（以下简称操作柱）的产口分类、基本参数、要求、使用说明书、试验方法、检验规则、标志、包装、运输、贮存等内容。
本标准适用于额定工作电压380V及以下的防爆及防腐防爆操作柱的设计、制造及检验。
操作柱主要用在工厂爆炸性气性环境或周围有腐蚀性气体环境中，远距离操作电磁电器，或对信号、控制电路进行通、断、转换控制，也可在被控电机附近就地，间接对电机进行起动、停止、反转操作；装有电流表、信号灯的操作柱还可对电机运行或电路情况进行监测和显示。
