QC/T 241-2024 Air leakage detection methods of automobile wheels for tubeless tires
1 Scope
This document specifies six air leakage detection methods of automobile wheels, namely helium detection method, comparison detection method, hydrogen detection method, differential pressure detection method, water detection method and compressed air method.
This document is applicable to automobile wheels equipped with tubeless tires. To be specific, helium detection method and water detection method are recommended for light alloy wheels; comparison detection method, hydrogen detection method, differential pressure detection method and compressed air method are recommended for steel wheels.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 2933 and the following apply.
3.1
leak rate
amount of leakage caused by differential pressure per unit time
Note: It is expressed in Pa·m3/s.
3.2
critical leakage rate
leak rate threshold used to determine whether a part is acceptable
4 Samples
The detection samples shall be unused new wheels or rims with uncoated surfaces.
5 Detection methods
5.1 Helium detection method
5.1.1 Detection equipment
The detection equipment shall be equipped with a sealing device, which divides the wheel into two seal chambers, inner and outer, and shall be able to vacuum the two seal chambers. It shall be able to provide helium and detect the partial pressure of helium in the seal chamber of the wheel (see Figure 1).
