QJ 1813.1-2005 Determining methods for viscosity and pot life of composite solid propellant slurry - Part 1: Method by press bar-fall ball viscometer 1 Scope This part specifies the instruments and equipment, specimen preparation, determination steps and processing of determination data of viscosity (i.e. apparent viscosity) and pot life of composite solid propellant slurry using method by press bar-fall ball viscometer. This part is applicable to the determination of viscosity and pot life of composite solid propellant slurry using method by press bar-fall ball viscometer. 2 Determination principle According to Stokes Law, this method allows the steel ball with a certain load to fall freely in the slurry at a constant temperature by using a press bar-fall ball viscometer, the time used to run a certain distance is determined, and the viscosity of the slurry is calculated by instrument constants. According to the viscosity values of the slurry measured at different times, the pot life of the slurry is obtained by plotting method. 3 Instruments and equipment 3.1 The main instruments and equipment required for determination include: ——press bar-fall ball viscometer. See Figure 1 for the structure of press bar-fall ball viscometer; ——stopwatch: with a division value of 0.01s; ——thermometer: with a division value of 1℃; ——thermostatic water bath: with a temperature control accuracy of ±1℃;
