YC/T 254-2008 Cigarettes - Determination of major carbonyls in mainstream cigarette smoke - High performance liquid chromatographic method (English Version)
Cigarettes - Determination of major carbonyls in mainstream cigarette smoke -
High performance liquid chromatographic method
1 Scope
This standard specifies the determination of major carbonyls in mainstream cigarette smoke by high performance liquid chromatographic method.
This standard is applicable to the determination of main carbonyls in mainstream cigarette smoke.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections), or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply to this standard. However parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies.
GB/T 5606.1 Cigarettes - Sampling

GB/T 19609 Cigarette - Determination of total and nicotine-free dry particulate matter using a routine analytical smoking machine (GB/T 19609-2004; ISO 4387: 2000, MOD)
3 Principle
Carbonyls in mainstream cigarette smoke are captured and derivatized by fiberglass filter leaf treated with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) solution, and the main carbonyls in mainstream cigarette smoke are quantitatively analyzed by quantitatively determining the derivative compounds with high performance liquid chromatography.
4 Reagents
4.1 Unless otherwise specified, reagents of analytically pure grade shall be used.
4.2 Deionized water, which shall comply with GB/T 6682, with R>5 MΩ (filtered by 0.45 μm filter membrane before use).
4.3 Acetonitrile, chromatographically pure (or that of analytically pure, used after being redistilled).
4.4 Tetrahydrofuran, chromatographically pure (or that of analytically pure, used after being redistilled).
4.5 Isopropanol, chromatographically pure (or that of analytically pure, used after being redistilled).
4.6 Perchloric acid.
