1 Scope
This standard specifies the personnel, equipment and apparatus requirements, methods and weld quality classification, etc. of ship steel weld ultrasonic testing.
This standard is applicable to Type A pulse reflection manual contact ultrasonic testing for full penetration weld of ferritic steel whose base metal thickness is 8 mm ~ 150 mm.
The thin plate whose base metal thickness is 6 mm~<8 mm may be tested by reference to this standard.
This standard is not applicable to cast steel and austenitic stainless steel welds, drum longitudinal weld whose outside diameter is less than 250 mm and whose inside and outside diameter ratio is less than 0.7, drum girth weld whose outside diameter is less than 200 mm and curved intersecting welds of various dimensions.
