3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
membrane fine bubble diffuser
gas (usually air) diffuser, consisting of a rubber diaphragm and a support body, that can produce bubbles with a diameter of less than or equal to 3mm in water in the aeration conditions. The holes on the rubber diaphragm open when air passes through the rubber diaphragm; the holes close when the air supply is stopped
3.2
standard conditions
condition where the atmospheric pressure is 101.325 kPa and the water temperature is 20 ℃
3.3
standard oxygen transfer rate (SOTR)
mass of oxygen transferred by a bubble diffuser to water with a zero dissolved oxygen concentration per unit time in the standard state and test conditions, expressed in kg/b
3.4
standard oxygen transfer efficiency (SOTE)
percentage of the mass of oxygen transferred by a bubble diffuser to water per unit time to the oxygen supply to the bubble diffuser in the standard state and test conditions, expressed in %.
3.5
standard aeration efficiency (SAE)
mass of oxygen transferred to water by consuming per useful work in the standard state and test conditions, expressed in kg/(kW·h)
3.6
quantity of aeration
standard quantity of air filled into water per unit time by a bubble diffuser in the standard state and test conditions, expressed in m3/h (standard status)
3.7
resistance loss (RL)
pressure difference before and after a certain aeration passes through a bubble diffuser in the atmospheric pressure of 101.325 kPa, expressed in Pa
4 Classification and models
4.1 Classification
The structure types of membrane fine bubble diffusers are classified into disc type (integrated type or split type), tube type and plate type. See Figures 1 to 4 for the schematic diagrams of the structures of bubble diffusers.
