1 Scope
This code specifies the technical requirements and standard of aluminium bus welding work in power sector for manufacturing, installing and overhauling 35kV and below generating equipment as well as 500kV and below supply and distribution equipment (rectangle, groove shape and pipe shape).
This code is applicable to the welding work of bus made of pure aluminium, aluminum magnesium alloy and aluminum manganese alloy materials. The bus made of other aluminum alloy materials may be welded referring to this code.
This code only recommends argon arc welding (TIG, MIG) method for aluminium bus welding, and other methods should not be adopted.

The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. At time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards will be revised, and the parties of this standard application shall discuss the possibility of applying the latest edition of the following standards.

3 General Provisions
3.1 Before formal welding of aluminium bus, the welding process test shall be carried out first; after confirming the property of weld meets the corresponding technical conditions, the welder training and technical examination may be organized.
3.2 The welders engaged in aluminium bus welding must be examined according to those specified in Appendix A of this code before welding, and they may participate in the formal welding working after obtaining the corresponding certificate.
3.3 If the aluminium bus is supplied together with introduced abroad generating unit, In addition to specific specification in contract, the welding work shall be in accordance with those specified in this code.
3.4 The construction process of aluminium bus shall include such procedures as counterpart assembly, welding, inspection and quality evaluation.
3.5 During aluminium metal and alloy welding, the welding atmosphere and strong arc light has a certain hazard for human body, therefore, the safety education and labor protection for welders must be strengthened.
3.6 The personnel engaged in aluminium bus welding work must comply with safety, environmental protection and fire prevention codes and relevant requirements.
