1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules of warning triangles for motor vehicle (hereinafter referred to as warning triangles).
This standard applies to certain warning devices intended to be on board vehicles and to be placed on the carriageway in order to signal, by day and at night, the presence of a halted vehicle.

3 Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following definitions apply.
3.1 warning triangle
device capable of signaling, by day and at night, the presence of a halted vehicle and in the form of an equilateral triangle
3.2 type of warning triangle
warning triangles which do not differ in such essential respects as:
——the trade name or mark;
——the optical characteristics;
——the distinctive geometrical and mechanical features.
