This document replaces GB 24427-2009 Limitation of mercury, cadmium and lead contents for alkaline and non-alkaline zinc manganese dioxide batteries and GB 24428-2009 Limitation of mercury content for zinc silver oxide, zinc oxygen and zinc manganese dioxide button batteries. In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB 24427-2009 and GB 24428-2009.
— The definitions of cadmium-free battery and lead-free battery have been added (see 3.6 and 3.7 hereof);
— Mercury-containing battery (mercury-low battery) has been deleted (see Table 1 of GB 24427-2009 and Table 2 of GB 24428-2009);
— The mercury limit of other zinc anode primary batteries except button battery (≤ 5 μg/g) has been modified and set to ≤ 1 μg/g (see Table 1 hereof, Table 1 of GB 24427-2009 and Table 2 of GB 24428-2009);
— The cadmium and lead contents of alkaline and alkaline zinc manganese dioxide battery have been modified (see Table 1 hereof, Table 1 of GB 24427-2009);
— The cadmium and lead contents of non-alkaline zinc manganese dioxide battery have been modified (see Table 1 hereof, Table 1 of GB 24427-2009);

1 Scope
This document specifies the limitation requirements, inspection methods and conformity requirements of mercury, cadmium and lead contents of standardized zinc manganese dioxide battery, zinc-silver oxide battery and zinc-air battery.
This document is applicable to the production, inspection and acceptance of standardized zinc manganese dioxide battery, zinc-silver oxide battery and zinc-air battery and battery composed by several primary cells.

basic functional unit of power supply, which is designed as non-chargeable and can directly convert chemical energy into electrical energy
