1 Scope
This standard specifies the essential safety requirements for additional hazards caused by the interaction between daylight presses and ancillary equipment, especially that between mold loading and unloading units. This standard does not specify safety requirements for ancillary equipment.
This standard is applicable to daylight press with a vertical closing movement more than 6 mm for the moulding of rubber & plastics products, rubber belts and plates.
This standard covers both moulding press (see 3.1.1) and belt press (see 3.1.2). All hazards listed in Clause 4 are covered by this standard.
The following machines are excluded:
——injection moulding machines;
——presses for curing pneumatic tyres;
——presses for curing inner tubes and curing bags;
——thermoforming machines;
——RIM machines.
This standard does not cover:
——the requirements concerning equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres;
——the requirements for the design of exhaust ventilation systems.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the terms and definitions given in 2.6.2 ~ 2.6.16, 2.6.35 ~ 2.6.39, 2.10.2, 2.10.9 and 2.10.26 of HG/T 3223-2000 and the following apply.

machine with two or more platens, applying pressure or heating the semi-products of rubbers or plastics or the rubber compound preset in the mould(s) between platens for vulcanising, including moulding press, belt press, etc.

moulding press
machine for the discontinuous production of moulded parts from plastics or rubber compounds which essentially consists of one or more clamping units, drive and control systems and possibly ancillary equipment (3.4), including those of compression moulding, transfer moulding and shuttle/turntable moulding by production process

compression moulding
process in which the moulding material is placed into the open mould. When the daylight press is closed, the moulding process is carried out under the influence of pressure with or without heat (see Figures 1 and 2). This process may be used as well for laminating sheets or plates
