Head protection - Safety helmets 1 Scope This standard specifies the classification, marking, technical requirements, inspection and identification of safety helmets. This standard is applicable to safety helmets used for head protection in workplaces. This standard is inapplicable to head protection articles for firefighting, emergency rescue, sports and vehicles. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition (including any amendments) applies. Ordinary type safety helmet is a safety helmet product with basic protective properties and suitable for general workplaces while special safety helmet is a safety helmet product with one or more special properties in addition to basic protective properties and suitable for special workplaces corresponding to its properties. 4.1.2 Special type safety helmets with electrical insulation properties are classified into Grades G and E according to the withstand voltage. Electrical insulation test voltage for Grades G and E are 2,200 V and 20,000 V respectively. 4.2 Classification mark 4.2.1 The classification mark of safety helmet consists of product name and property mark. 4.2.2 See Table 1 for the classification marks of safety helmets, and select the corresponding properties from top to bottom in the table to mark. The normally used safety helmet shall not fail in its protection function due to material reasons during the service life. 5.2 Requirements for basic properties 5.2.1 Headband Headband shall be adjustable according to the applicable head circumference indicated in the safety helmet identification. 5.2.2 Sweatband The area of the headband corresponding to the forehead shall be provided with sweat absorbent fabric or added with sweatband, and the width of the shall not be less than the width of the headband. 5.2.3 Dimension of chin strap If a safety helmet is equipped with chin strap, webbing with a width of not less than 10 mm or rope with a diameter of not less than 5 mm shall be used. 5.2.4 Shell The surface of the shell shall be free from bubbles, defects and other defects detrimental to properties. 5.2.5 Component installation The components of safety helmets shall be installed firmly without loosening or slipping. 5.2.6 Quality (excluding accessories) The weight of special type safety helmet shall not exceed 600g; that of the ordinary type safety helmet shall not exceed 430g; the relative error between the actual product mass and the marked mass shall not be greater than 5%. 5.2.7 Visor Determined according to the methods in GB/T 2812, the length of visor shall be no greater than 70mm. 5.2.8 Brim Determined according to the methods in GB/T 2812, the length of brim shall be no greater than 70mm. 5.2.9 Wearing height Measured according to the methods in GB/T 2812, the wearing height shall be no less than 80mm. 5.2.10 Vertical distance Measured according to the methods in GB/T 2812, the vertical distance shall be no greater than 50mm.
