d) Add the note of 1.3;
e) Two international standards in Chapter 2 "Normative References" are replaced by corresponding national standards of China.
f) Replace the decimal point "." in original international standard with the decimal point ",".
This Part and other parts jointly replace GB/T 1040-1992 "Plastics - determination of tensile properties" and GB/T 16421-1996 "Plastics — Determination of tensile properties by use of small specimens".
Compared with GB/T 1040-1992, the main changes on technical contents in this Part are as follows:
— Standard name was changed, adds Content and Foreword;
— Adds the chapters of "Principle", "Number of Test Specimens", "Conditioning", "Precision" and Appendix A;
— "Subject Content and Application Scope" was changed into "Scope"; "Quoted Standards" was changed into "Normative References"; "Terms" was changed into "Definitions";
— Scope of application was extended;
— Standard test specimen types were changed from four types (I, II, III and IV) into two types (1A and 1B);
— Small test specimen types I (I1 and I2) and II (II1 and II2) of GB/T 16421-1996 were incorporated into Appendix A (Normative) of this Part, and the types were revised as 1BA, 1BB, 5A and 5B respectively; dimensions of test specimen were identical before and after revision;
— Expend the contents of the test report.
Appendix A of this Part is normative.

Plastics — Determination of Tensile Properties — Part 2: Test Conditions for Moulding and Extrusion Plastics
塑料 拉伸性能的测定
第2部分:模塑和挤塑塑料的试验条件
1 Scope
1.1 This Part of GB/T 1040 specifies the test conditions for determining the tensile properties of moulding and extrusion plastics, based upon the general principles given in Part 1.
1.2 The methods are selectively suitable for use with the following range of materials:
— Rigid and semirigid thermoplastics moulding, extrusion and cast materials, including compounds filled and reinforced by e.g. short fibres, small rods, plates or granules but excluding textile fibres;
— Rigid and semirigid thermosetting moulding and cast materials, including filled and reinforced compounds but excluding textile fibres as reinforcement;
— Thermotropic liquid crystal polymers.
The methods are not suitable for use with materials reinforced by textile fibres, with rigid cellular materials or sandwich structures containing cellular material.
1.3 The methods are applied using specimens which may be either moulded to the chosen dimensions or machined, cut or punched from injection- or compression-moulded plates. The multipurpose test specimen is preferred (see ISO 3167:1993, Plastics — Multipurpose test specimens).
Note: ISO 3167:1993 was replaced by ISO 3167:2002.
2 Normative References
