3 Technical Requirements
3.1 General requirements
3.1.1 The friction damper wedge for freight car is classified into two types, i.e., the integral type and the combined type, according to its structural form. The combined-type wedge is comprised of main friction plate, wedge body, gasket, pin and other parts.
3.1.2 The geometrical dimensions of the integral-type wedge (hereinafter referred to as the wedge) and the combined-type wedge shall meet the requirements of product drawings; the unnoted casting dimensional tolerances shall meet the requirements of Grade CT11 as stated in GB/T 6414-1999, the unnoted machining dimensional tolerances shall meet the requirements of Grade m as stated in GB/T 1804-2000, and the unnoted geometrical tolerances shall meet the requirements of Grade L as stated in GB/T 1184-1996.
3.1.3 The material of the wedge and the wedge body is austenite-bainite ductile iron (ADI), and that of the main friction plate is polymer composite material.
3.1.4 The main friction plate shall meet the service requirements in the case that the ambient temperature is -50℃ ~ +70℃.
3.2 Manufacture requirements
3.2.1 Wedge and wedge body
3.2.1.1 The metallographic structure of the wedge and the wedge body shall meet the following requirements:
a) Its nodulizing grade is from Grades 1 to 3 as stated in GB/T 9441-2009 (the nodularity is not lower than 80%);
b) The floated graphite and the exploded graphite shall not exist;
c) The total amount of carbide and steadite in the base shall not exceed 5%.
3.2.1.2 See Appendix A for the chemical compositions of the wedge and the wedge body.
