1 Scope
This standard specifies the product classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, mark and label as well as packaging, transportation and storage of woven carpets.
It is applicable to Wilton and Axminster carpets with pile which are made by taking wool, synthetic fiber, wool and wool mixed fiber as raw materials of pile and made by interweaving pile yarns and substrate warp and weft via carpet loom. Woven carpet taking other fiber materials as carpet tufting may also refer to this standard.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
appearance retention
the capability of carpet for preventing change in appearance
3.2
change in appearance
the change in structure (texture), thickness, colour and/or pattern of carpet face as a result of external force
Note 1: Change in structure and texture refers to the visible change in carpet face pile (cut-pile or loop-pile) and/or fiber structure, e.g. degradation of pile resolution, pile leaning over (thickness loss), fiberization, felting, fuzzing, pilling and felling direction change of pile (with color difference) and streak change, etc.
Note 2: Change in colour refers to the whitening, fading, lighting and decoloration, etc. of carpet face.
Note 3: Change in pattern refers to the change or reduction of pattern contour sharpness of carpet face.
