1 Scope
This standard specifies material identification marks and their marking requirements of containers and packaging components that may be recycled for use.
This standard is applicable to packaging containers or packaging components made up of paper, plastic, aluminum and iron etc that may be recycled for use.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions established by GB/T 16716.1 and the following terms and definitions are suitable for this standard.
3.1 Supplier
Suppliers are operators who are responsible for the products introduced to the market and their packaging.
3.2 Packaging component
Packaging components are components which may be separated by hands or by simple physical method.
3.3 Complex packaging material
Complex packaging materials are packing materials with specific function heat sealed or adhered (or other process) through two or more kinds of materials.
4 Marking
4.1 Common package recycling marking
Recycling markings and their descriptions of common packing materials are detailed in Table 1. Codes and abbreviations of plastic packing materials and their indication methods are detailed in Table 2.

Paper
The paper is applicable to products, such as paper box, carton and pulp molding product.
"Paper" may be marked below the marking.
Plastic
Figure to the left is only a basic graphic.
Aluminum
"Aluminum" may be marked below the marking.
Iron
"Iron" may be marked below the marking.
4.2 Plastic package recycling marking
4.2.1 Common plastic package recycling marking
Common plastic package recycling markings shall be in accordance with indication codes and abbreviations of Appendix A in GB/T 16288-2008. Figure 1 provides the indication examples.
