1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packing, transportation and storage as well as order (or contract) for copper and copper alloy wire.
This standard is applicable to the copper and copper alloy wire in round, square and regular hexagonal shapes for different industry departments.

3 Requirements
3.1 Product classification
3.1.1 Designation, state and specification
The designation, state and specification of products shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 1.
3.1.2 Marking illustration
The product marks shall be expressed according to product name, designation, state, precision, specification and standard number sequence. The mark illustration is listed as follows:
Example 1: Round wire made of BZn 40-20 alloy, in 1/4 hard state, of higher precision and with a diameter of 3mm shall be marked as:
Round copper wire BZn 40-20Y 1 higher 3.0 GB/T 21652-2008
Example 2: Square wire made of BZn 12-26 alloy, in semi-hard state, of general precision and with a distance across flat of 4.5 mm shall be marked as:
Square copper wire BZn 12-26 Y 2 general 4.5 GB/T 21552-2008
Example 3: Regular hexagonal wire made of HSb 60-0.9 alloy, in hard state, of higher precision and with a distance across flat of 5mm shall be marked as:
Hexagonal copper wire HSb 50-0.9 Y higher 5 GB/T 21652-2008
3.2 Chemical composition
3.2.1 Chemical compositions on each designation of wire shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 5231.
3.2.2 The chemical composition of alloy designation beyond the scope of GB/T 5231 shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 2 to Table 7.
