3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Standard, the terms and definitions established in GB/T 228 and those listed below apply.
Phosphated steel wire
Finished steel wire via phosphating with phosphate coating on the surface.
4 Ordering Content of Steel Wire
Order Contract of this Standard shall include the following items:
a) Standard No.;
b) Name of product;
c) Nominal diameter;
d) Quantity (length);
e) Surface condition;
f) Nominal tensile strength grade;
g) Manner of packing;
h) Other requirements.
5 Dimension, Appearance and Permissible Deviation
5.1 Dimension
5.1.1 Nominal diameter
Nominal diameter of steel wire shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 1, as for acceptance of steel wire, various inspection results shall be based on the nominal diameter.
Other specifications of steel wire may also be adopted as agreed by both the Supplier and the Purchaser.
5.1.2 Diameter and permissible deviation
Steel wire diameter refers to the arithmetic average of the twice measured diameter in the mutually perpendicular direction on the same cross section. The permissible deviation shall be consistent with those specified in Table 1.
Table 1 Nominal Diameter and Permissible Variation of Steel Wire mm
Nominal diameter of steel wire, d Permissible deviation
0.50≤d<0.80 ±0.01
0.80≤d<1.60 ±0.02
1.60≤d<3.00 ±0.03
5.1.3 Non-circularity
The non-circularity of the steel wire shall not be greater than half of the nominal diameter.
5.2 Straightness
Steel wire shall be flat and smooth. In the event that a circuit of steel wire is randomly clipped from the spool for delivery and laid flat on the plane, its free circle diameter shall not be less than the outside diameter of spool and the warped height shall be no greater than 50 mm.
5.3 Length
The length of steel wire shall be produced in accordance with specified length or multiple length as purchaser required, with the deviation during delivery referring to (0~+1)%.
