Ball joint compensator for district heating system
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification and designation, general requirements, inspection requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, drying and painting, as well as marking, packaging, transportation and storage of the ball joint compensator for district heating system.
This standard is applicable to the manufacture and inspection of ball joint compensators with design pressure not greater than 2.5 MPa, design temperature of hot water medium not greater than 200°C, design temperature of steam medium not greater than 350°C and nominal diameter of piping not greater than 1600 mm, which are used to absorb angular movement in any plane.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
ball joint compensator
device that absorbs piping movement by flexural motion and rotation of the ball relative to the housing
3.2
ball
spherical element that can be freely flexed and rotated within the maximum angular flex, with one end connected with a piping
3.3
housing
element accommodating a ball, a ball bushing, a sealing ring and a sealing packing, with one end connected with a piping
3.4
ball bushing
element that is used to bear the internal pressure thrust of the heating network and can form a seal box with the ball and the housing
3.5
injection nozzle
device for filling a seal box with sealing packing, which is classified into ordinary one and rotary-valve one. Ordinary injection nozzle only fills the seal box with sealing packing when the heating network stops running, while the rotary-valve injection nozzle can fill the seal box with sealing packing when the heating network runs/stops running
