Determination of density and relative density for chemical products
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions for the determination of density and relative density of chemical products, and the methods for the determination of density and relative density of chemical products in the state of solid, liquid or gas.
This standard is applicable to the determination of density and relative density of general chemical products
This standard is not applicable to the determination of density and relative density of special chemical products such as carbon black, open porous foam rubber or plastic.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
density
ρ
mass divided by volume. ρ=m/V. It may be expressed in kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m3) or in its multiples such as megagrams per cubic meter (Mg/m3), kilograms per cubic decimeter (kg/dm3), grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm3). It may also be expressed in tons per cubic meter (t/m)3, kilograms per liter (kg/L), grams per liter (g/L), milligrams per liter (mg/L), micrograms per liter (μ g/L) and nanograms per liter (ng/L).
