This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 5318-1985 Sintered metal materials (excluding hardmetals) without notch impact test piece.
Compared with GB/T 5318-1985, this standard has the main changes as follows:
——Chapter 3 "Normative references" is added;
——Editions of normative references are updated;
——Editorial changes are made.
This standard has been redrafted and modified from ISO 5754:1978 Sintered metal materials, excluding hardmetals—Unnotched impact test piece, MOD.
Compared with ISO 5754:1978, this standard has the following technical differences with reason:
——Adjustment with technical differences had been made to normative references of this standard in order to adapt to the technical conditions of China. Chapter 3 "Normative references" embodies a concentrated reflection of the adjustment. To be specific,
•ISO 83 is deleted;
•ISO 148-1 is replaced by GB/T 229-2007 which is modified in relation to international standard.
This standard was proposed by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Nonferrous Metals of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 243).
The previous edition of this standard is as follows:
——GB/T 5318-1985.
Sintered metal materials (excluding hardmetals)
without notch impact test piece
1 Scope
This standard specifies the dimensions of an unnotched impact test piece of sintered metal materials (excluding hardmetals). The test piece may be obtained directly by pressing and sintering or by machining a sintered part.
This standard applies to unnotched impact test piece for sintered metal materials (excluding hardmetals).
2 Field of application
This standard applies to all sintered metal and alloys, with the exception of hardmetals. However, for certain sintered materials with low porosity or high ductility, it may be more appropriate to use a notched test piece which, in this case, will give results with less scatter (In this case, refer to GB/T 229-2007).
Note: For sintered metal porous materials, the results obtained from impact tests are not necessarily very accurate and should not be compared with results obtained from tests on solid metals.
3 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.

Unless otherwise specified, the direction of impact shall be normal to the pressing direction.
