GB/T 8110-2020 Wire electrodes and weld deposits for gas shielded metal arc welding of non alloy and fine grain steels English
Wire electrodes and weld deposits for gas shielded metal arc welding of non alloy and fine grain steels
1 Scope
This standard specifies the models, technical requirements, test methods, re-inspection and supply technical conditions of wire electrodes and weld deposits for gas shielded metal arc welding of non alloy and fine grain steels.
This standard is applicable to wire electrodes and weld deposits for gas shielded metal arc welding of non alloy and fine grain steels (hereinafter referred to as “welding wire") with a minimum tensile strength of the deposited metal of up to 570 MPa.

3 Models
3.1 Model classification
The models of welding wires shall be classified according to the mechanical properties of deposited metal, post-weld state, the type of shielding gas and the chemical composition of welding wires. Refer to Annex C for comparison of solid welding wire models of this standard with other relevant standards.
3.2 Model preparation method
Welding wire model consists of five parts:
1) Part I: solid welding wire for gas shielded metal arc welding expressed by “G”;
2) Part II: symbol indicating the tensile strength of the deposited metal in either the as-welded or post-weld heat-treated condition, see Table 1;
3) Part III: symbol indicating the test temperature when the impact absorbed energy (KV2) is not less than 27J, see Table 2;
4) Part IV: symbol indicating the shielding gas used, which is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 39255;
5) Part V: classification of chemical composition of welding wire, see 4.3.
In addition to the above-mentioned mandatory symbols, optional symbols may be added to the model:
a) The addition of the letter “U”, immediately after the third part, indicates that the impact absorbed energy (KV2) shall not be less than 47 J at the specified test temperature;
b) The addition of the symbol “N” for “non copper plated”, immediately after the fifth part, indicates non-copper plated welding wires.
For the purpose of this standard, the examples of welding wire models are as follows.
