1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of gum rosin.

3 Product types and specifications
3.1 Gum rosin (hereinafter referred to as rosin) is an amorphous transparent glassy solid resin, which is obtained by distilling turpentine from pine gum collected from standing pine trees. Its main chemical component is monobasic resin acid, and its molecular formula is C20H30O2.
3.2 Rosin is classified into six grades: special grade, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 4 and Grade 5. Other rosin products are off-grade. The grades specified in this standard are similar to the corresponding grades specified in ASTM D 509-1998, which are expressed by X, WW, WG, N, M and K, but they are not equal and the latter can be used as reference.

The technical indexes of various grades of rosins shall meet those specified in Table 1.
