This standard specifies the design, manufacture, inspection and acceptance requirements of copper pressure vessels; the copper atmospheric pressure vessels may also be implemented by reference to this standard.
1.1 This standard is applicable to the vessels with design pressure no larger than 35MPa.
1.2 The design temperature scope applicable to this standard shall be determined according to the permissible service temperature of copper and composite copper plate. Not only the respective service temperature of the copper liner and the copper covering material but also the difference of elasticity modulus and thermal expansion coefficient of liner and covering materials shall be considered for the design temperature scope applicable to copper lined vessels.
1.3 The following vessels are not included in the scope of this standard:
a) Directly-fired vessels;
b) Vessels in the nuclear-energy plant;
c) Compression vessel chambers as the component parts of such motive mechanical equipments with rotation or reciprocation (such as centrifugal pump shell, cylinder body of reciprocating pump, cylinder body of compressor, cylinder body of refrigerating machine, case of blower, rotating drum of centrifuge);
d) Frequently-transported vessels;
e) Vessels with internal diameter less than 150mm (means width, height or diagonal line for the noncircular section, means the diagonal line for rectangular or the major axis for ellipse);
f) Vessels requiring fatigue analysis.
1.4 For the pressure elements with structural dimension not being determined by using this standard, the following methods may be adopted in the design of these compression components, but they shall be evaluated and approved by the National Technical Committee on Pressure Vessels of Standardization Administration of China:
a) Stress analysis, including finite element method;
b) Replication experiment analysis (such as proof stress analysis and replication hydraulic test);
c) Comparison empirical design by using such comparable structures that have been in service.
