3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Wiring system
It refers to the combination of a cable (wire), muliple cables (wires) or bus bars as well as components for fixing them. If required, the wiring system shall also include enclosed cable (wire) or bus bar parts.
3.2
Electrical equipment
It refers to any parts for power generation, power transformation, power transmission, power distribution or power utilization, such as motor, transformer, electric apparatus, measuring instrument, protective device, wiring system equipment and electrical appliances.
3.3
Current-using equipment
It refers to the equipment converting the electric energy to other energy (such as luminous energy, thermal energy, mechanical energy).
3.4
Electrical installation
It refers to the combination of electrical equipment with matched characteristics and for one or several specific purposes.
3.5
Conduit
It refers to a part for protecting round or non-round wiring system of wire or cable in electric installation. The conduit has adequate air tightness to make wires and cables only led into longitudinally instead of transversely.
3.6
Metal conduit
It refers to the conduit made of metal material.
3.7
Insulating conduit
It refers to the conduit made of insulating material, without any conductive part (without internal metal lining or external metal mesh or metal coating.
3.8
Protective conductor (PE)
It refers to a conductor for electrically connecting with the following parts in order to prevent shock hazard occurrence:
——Exposed conductive parts;
——External conductive parts;
——Main earthing terminals;
——Earthing electrode (earthing device);
——Power supply earthing point or artificial neutral contact.
3.9
PEN conductor
It refers to an earthing conductor with both neutral conductor and protective conductor function.
