This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces YC/T 409-2011 Determination of special-purpose fibers in cigarette paper—Microscopy analysis method. The following main technical changes have been made with respect to YC/T 409-2011:
——The definition of "special-purpose fiber" is modified, and the types of special-purpose fibers in cigarette paper are defined;
——The requirements for drying device and dropper in the apparatus are modified;
——The specimen preparation process is modified;
——The determination procedures are modified, and the dyeing confirmation and other related contents are removed;
——The annexes are revised and adjusted: the desktop scanning electron microscope (SEM) method is introduced to Annex A (normative); the original Annex A and Annex B are merged into Annex B, some typical micrographs are deleted, and the desktop SEM micrographs are introduced.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. The issuing body of this document shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This standard was proposed by the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the Subcommittee on Cigarette Materials of the National Technical Committee on Tobacco of the Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 144/SC 8).
The previous edition of this standard is as follows:
——YC/T 409-2011.
Determination of special-purpose fibers in cigarette paper—
Microscopy analysis method
1 Scope
This standard specifies the analysis methods for qualitative determination of special-purpose fibers in cigarette paper, including the optical microscopy analysis method as described in the text and the desktop SEM analysis method as described in Annex A.
This standard is applicable to all kinds of cigarette paper. The optical microscopy analysis method is applicable to routine determination of special-purpose fibers in cigarette paper, and the desktop SEM method is applicable to rapid nondestructive determination of special-purpose fibers in cigarette paper.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
GB/T 6682 Water for analytical laboratory use—Specification and test methods
3 Principle
The morphological characteristics of the fibers separated from the samples under determination are observed by optical microscope, and the special-purpose fibers in the samples are qualitatively analyzed.
4 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
4.1
cigarette paper
special-purpose paper for wrapping cut tobacco into cigarettes
[GB/T 18771.3-2015, definition 2.1.1]
4.2
special-purpose fiber
artificial glass fibers or silicate fibers added to cigarette paper whose appearance and morphology conform to the characteristics of micrographs given in this standard
5 Reagent and apparatus
5.1 Reagent
Water used shall meet the requirements for Grade 3 water as specified in GB/T 6682.
5.2 Apparatus
5.2.1 Microscope; 100~400×, with mechanical stage, central point or horizontal eyepiece, lighting system and image acquisition device. If there is no lighting system, daylight lamp or general vacuum lamp with daylight filter may be used as an alternative.
5.2.2 Disperser, mechanical disperser or homogenizer.
5.2.3 Drying device, capable of maintaining the temperature between 50℃ and 80℃.
5.2.4 Electronic balance: with a sensitivity of 0.01 g.
5.2.5 Others, e.g., 2 mL dropper, 250 mL beaker, slide, stainless steel dissecting needle, tweezers, scissors, blade and glass rod.
6 Specimen preparation
In the following preparation process, the apparatus and containers shall be kept clean to avoid pollution.
6.1 Sampling
6.1.1 Cigarette paper sample
Take about 5 g of cigarette paper as laboratory sample, cut about 0.4 g of the laboratory sample into small pieces with a length of about 10 mm, mix them evenly and use them as the specimen, and then weigh 0.12 g of the specimen as the test portion for later use, accurate to 0.01 g.
6.1.2 Cigarette sample
Take about 20 cigarettes, peel off the cigarette papers, use them as laboratory sample after removing the lap and seal. Take about 0.4 g from the laboratory sample, cut it into small pieces with a length of about 10 mm, mix them evenly and use them as the specimen, and then weigh 0.12 g of the specimen as the test portion for later use, accurate to 0.01 g.
6.2 Preparation of fiber liquid suspension
6.2.1 Place the test portion in a 250 mL beaker, and add 150 mL of water (5.1) to make the test portion wet completely.
6.2.2 Use the mechanical disperser or homogenizer to disperse the wetted test portion until there is no scraps of paper in the beaker.
