General specifications for hand-held metal detector 1 Scope This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, identification, marking, labeling, packaging, accompanied technical documents, etc. of hand-held metal detectors. It is applicable to hand-held metal detectors for checking metal weapons and metal contraband articles, and is the basic basis for designing, manufacturing, inspecting and using such equipment. a) built-in and designed for easy replacement or charging; b) effective isolation between the detector circuit and the battery compartment. 4.2.4 Mass of complete machine The mass of complete machine for detector shall be less than or equal to 800g (including the battery). 4.3 Operation and control devices Keys, switches, signal sockets, etc. shall be operated flexibly, with clear hand feeling and reliable functions. 4.4 Power supply The power supply of the detector shall meet the following requirements: a) supplying power with batteries of common model, and the supply voltage less than or equal to 15V; b) able to work continuously and stably for at least 24h without replacing batteries or recharging; c) having under-voltage indication function. 4.5 Basic detection function The detector shall be able to alarm in case of the metal reaching or exceeding the limited amount, and no alarm failure shall occur. 4.6 Detection performance 4.6.1 Range of detection sensitivity The detector shall be applicable to or cover at least one detection class. 4.6.2 Detection sensitivity There shall be a set of recommended setting parameters or shortcut programs for the detection class that can be met as stated in the product user manual. When judging whether the product can meet a detection class, it shall be tested according to all the test objects and requirements of the corresponding detection categories listed in Table 1, and no alarm failure shall occur. The alarm sound shall be different from the sound prompting other information. 4.7.2 Alarm display It shall be in red and clearly seen in the 10,000lx bright environment and 25lx dim environment and different from the non-alarm display. 4.7.3 Headphone jack If the detector has headphone jack, the sound alarm indication shall be automatically turned off when the headphone is inserted into the headphone jack. 4.7.4 Alarm state resumption The alarm indication shall stop immediately after the detector leaves from the alarmed test object for a specified distance. 4.8 Radiation magnetic induction strength The magnetic field induced by the detector shall have radiation magnetic induction strength of no more than 20μT at any point on its surface. See Annex D for the formulation of indexes. 4.9 Resistance to mutual interference When multiple detectors are used at an interval of 0.6m, each shall be able to work normally. 4.10 Resistance to the influence of surrounding metal objects The performance of the detector’s resistance to the influence of surrounding metal objects meets the following technical requirements: a) when the detector moves at a distance greater than or equal to 0.5m from large metal objects, no alarm signal shall occur; b) detectors close to large metal objects shall be able to automatically resume their detection performance within 1min after leaving the large metal objects.
