本标准规定了装用压燃式发动机汽车及其发动机所排放的气态和颗粒污染物的排放限值及测试方法，以及装用以天然气(NG)或液化石油气(LPG)作为燃料的点燃式发动机汽车及其发动机所排放的气态污染物的排放限值及测量方法。
本标准适用于装用压燃式、气体燃料点燃式发动机的M2、M3、N1、N2和N3类及总质量大于3500kg的M类汽车及其发动机的型式检验、生产一致性检查、新生产车排放监督检查和在用车符合性检查。按本标准进行的整车型式检验可以扩展至基准质量超过2380kg的变型、改装车辆。
若装用压燃式、气体燃料点燃式发动机的M1、M2、N1和N2类汽车已经按GB18352.6-2016进行了型式检验，可不按本标准进行型式检验。
