GB 45184-2024 Optometry products - Safety technical specifications of components 1 Scope This document defines the terms and definitions relating to components of optometry products, specifies safety technical requirements, and describes the corresponding test methods. This document is applicable to components of optometry products. 2 Normative references The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. GB/T 6682 Water for analytical laboratory use - Specification and test methods GB/T 26397 Ophthalmic optics - Terminology GB/T 38009 Spectacle frames - Requirement and method for the detection of nickel release ISO 13666 Ophthalmic optics - Spectacle lenses - Vocabulary 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 26397 and ISO 13666, and the following apply. 3.1 finished spectacles various types of ready-to-use spectacles Note: The types referred to here generally include ordinary spectacles, partially enclosed or fully enclosed eye shields, flip-up or detachable auxiliary lenses, etc. Common finished spectacles include prescription assembled spectacles, near-vision spectacles, sunglasses, swimming goggles, alpine snow goggles, special spectacles for motor vehicle driving, polarized 3D spectacles, and so on. 3.2 component main constituent part of finished spectacles Note: Examples include lenses and spectacle frames. 3.3 focal power term generally encompassing the spherical power and cylindrical power of a lens 3.4 dioptric power term generally referring to the focal power of a lens and sometimes also encompassing its prismatic power 3.5 vertex power reciprocal of the paraxial vertex focal length of a lens measured in meters Note: The vertex power of a lens generally refers to its back vertex power. The unit is reciprocal meter (m-1), for which the symbols D or dpt are also commonly used in the industry (1D=1m-1). 3.6 prismatic power value characterizing the magnitude of the prismatic effect at the reference point of a lens Note: The unit of prismatic power is centimeters per meter (cm/m), for which the symbol Δ is also commonly used in the industry. 3.7 variation power difference in vertex power between the primary reference point and secondary reference point, or between the distance reference point and near reference point, of a lens Note 1: Variation power is defined only for power-variation lenses having primary reference point and secondary reference point. Note 2: For a multifocal lens, the variation power is the addition vertex power, i.e. the difference between the vertex power measured in the near portion and that measured in the distance portion under specified conditions. Note 3: Degression vertex power is the nominal value of the designed negative variation in vertex power from the near portion towards the upper part of a degressive-power lens.
