Table 2 Nominal operating temperature and color coding Glass bulb sprinkler Fusible element sprinkler Nominal operating temperature ℃ Liquid color code Nominal operating temperature ℃ Color code 57 Orange 57–77 Uncolored 68 Red 80–107 White 79 Yellow 121–149 Blue 93 Green 163–191 Red 107 Green 204–246 Green 121 Blue 260–302 Orange 141 Blue 320–343 Orange 163 Mauve - - 182 Mauve - - 204 Black - - 227 Black - - 260 Black - - 343 Black - - Note: “-” represents that no requirement is imposed. 5.3 Model designation 5.3.1 The model designation of sprinkler consists of product code, feature code, nominal flow contact, nominal operating temperature, custom code, etc. 5.3.2 The product code is “ZST”, representing sprinklers of automatic sprinkler system. 5.3.3 The feature code represents installation position and other features of sprinkler, which is shown as follows: a) Upright sprinkler: Z; b) Pendent sprinkler: X; c) Upright sidewall sprinkler: BZ; d) Pendent sidewall sprinkler: BX; e) Horizontal sidewall sprinkler: BS; f) Flush sprinkler: DQ; g) Recessed sprinkler: DR; h) Concealed sprinkler: DY; i) Dry pendent sprinkler: GX; j) Dry upright sprinkler: GZ. 5.3.4 The model of sprinkler is designated as follows: a) Extra code of "K", "T" and "EC" shall be added before the product code for fast-response sprinkler, special-response sprinkler and extended coverage sprinkler respectively and separated from product code by "-". No code before product code is required for standard-response sprinklers. b) The custom code is specified by manufacturer to represent information like the type of the heat responsive element, special product structure and so on. It is made up of capital English letters, Arabic numerals or their combinations, and should not exceed 3 characters. Example 1: “ZSTX80-93℃ Q5”represents a pendent standard-response sprinkler, with nominal flow constant of 80, nominal operating temperature of 93℃, and having a Φ5mm glass bulb heat-responsive element. Example 2: “K-ZSTZ115-74℃ YS” represents an upright fast-response sprinkler, with nominal flow constant of 115, nominal operating temperature of 74℃, and having a fusible alloy heat-responsive element and water shield. Example 3: “EC-ZSTBS161-72℃ Y” represents a horizontal extended coverage sprinkler of sidewall type, with nominal flow constant of 161, nominal operating temperature of 72℃, and having a fusible alloy heat-responsive element.
