This standard specifies the testing method of linear density of filament yarn (multifilament yarn and single yarn) like polyester (polyester fiber), polyamide (chinlon), polypropylene (polypropylene fiber) and cellulose man-made fiber.
This standard is applicable to linear density testing of filament yarn extracted from package or fabric, and serves as reference for fold yarn and cable.
This standard is not applicable to filament yarn with elongation greater than 0.5% where the tension is increased from to 0.05cN/dtex to 0.1cN/dtex.
